Subject: APPEAL – DELROY WISDOM VS FIRST INSTANCE TRIBUNAL

On Thursday, 11th APRIL 2019, the Jamaica Racing Commission heard an appeal by Delroy Wisdom, Trainer of the horse SIR WILLIE against the decision of the First Instance Tribunal, arising from a positive finding of the prohibited substance, Lidocaine. The First Instance Tribunal, had imposed on Trainer Delroy Wisdom, a fine of Two Hundred Thousand Dollars ($200,000.00) and warned him off all courses where the rules of racing are in force for a period of eighteen (18) months. After considering the evidence and submission, the Commission ruled that the fine of Two Hundred Thousand Dollars ($200,000.00) imposed by the First Instance Tribunal on Mr. Wisdom be reduced to the sum of Seventy-Five Thousand Dollars ($75,000.00) and that the warning off period be reduced to a period of six (6) months. The warning off period is effective; Monday, 15th April, 2019 and the fine is to be paid by Thursday, April 18, 2019. Mr. Wisdom was represented by Mr. Rudolph Muir, Attorney-At-Law.
