Eligibility of a Horse to Race
All stakeholders are hereby reminded of the primary criteria that must be satisfied in order for a horse to be eligible to race.
- The horse must be registered.
- The name of the horse must be approved by the Jamaica Racing Commission.
- The owner must be currently registered.
- The trainer must be currently licensed.
- Neither owner nor trainer must be a disqualified person.
- A training agreement must be registered with the Jamaica Racing Commission.
- The horse’s vaccination must be current.
- The horse must be micro-chipped.
- The horse must be passed by the starter (gate test).
NB: It must also be noted that “NO HORSE SHALL RUN IN ANY RACE PRIOR TO THE SECOND ANNIVERSARY OF THE DATE ON WHICH IT WAS FOALED”.
